Art-Net Node

What is an Art-Net Node?

A network↔DMX converter for large multi-universe pixel systems — expanding the number of control points over a LAN.

What is a Art-Net Node?

An Art-Net Node is a device that converts between a network (Art-Net over LAN) and DMX512. The controller sends many universes over the network to the nodes, and each node outputs the corresponding DMX ports.

Thanks to nodes, a large pixel system (tens of thousands of points) is distributed tidily over one network cable instead of running countless separate DMX cables.

Pros & cons

  • Expands many universes over the network
  • Tidy: 1 LAN cable replaces many DMX cables
  • Distributes signal to many areas
  • The standard for large pixel systems
  • Needs correct network config (IP/universe)
  • A poor node causes lag/packet loss
  • Design the network diagram sensibly

Art-Net Node on the floor

An Art-Net node distributes the signal for a large pixel system tidily over a LAN. NHK Stage designs the universe diagram, configures the IPs and lays out the nodes so the system runs stably and expands easily.
