DMX / SPI Decoder

What is a DMX/SPI Decoder?

Converts the signal from Madrix to pixels to standard — the bridge between the controller and the pixel strips/lights.

What is a DMX / SPI Decoder?

A Decoder converts the signal from the Madrix controller (DMX/Art-Net) into an SPI signal the pixel strip/light IC understands, or distributes DMX to each section.

Each decoder manages a certain number of pixels. Choosing the right decoder for the pixel IC and laying it out sensibly is key to running the right colours in the right order.

Pros & cons

  • A bridge controller ↔ pixels
  • Converts DMX/Art-Net → SPI
  • Distributes signal by section
  • Ensures correct colour and order
  • Must match the pixel IC
  • Wrong layout causes offset/flicker
  • Large pixel counts need many decoders

Use in a Bar / Club
