Katana / LED Bar

What is a Katana / LED Bar?

A long bar fixture split into individually controlled pixels — creating sweeps, chases and waves of light along a row.

What is a Katana / LED Bar?

A Katana / LED Bar is a long bar with many high-power LEDs split into independently controlled pixels/segments. Some Katana models also rotate to work as both a bar and a sweeping beam.

By controlling each pixel via DMX/pixel-mapping, an LED bar creates chase, wave and flash effects along a row — very powerful when arranged into a grid or a frame border.

Pros & cons

  • Pixel sweep/chase/wave effects along a row
  • Grid or border layouts build light shapes
  • Rotating models double as beam effects
  • Syncs beautifully with LED screens and Madrix
  • Needs pixel-mapping programming to exploit fully
  • Large numbers raise DMX/power load
  • High-end models are fairly expensive

Use in a Bar / Club

Katana / LED Bar on the floor

LED Bars border the DJ frame, form grids behind the stage or stand as columns on both sides, running pixel effects synced with the LED screen and Madrix system to create a unified light surface. They bridge lighting and the screen.
