Spider Light

What is a Spider Light?

A row of LED heads that sweep up and down together like spider legs — a great-value “explosion” effect.

What is a Spider Light?

A Spider light has many small LED heads (often 8) in a row on a moving bar, each firing its own coloured ray. As the heads sweep up and down together they form a lively multi-ray fan.

It is light and affordable, running DMX or auto to the music. It is a popular way to add ray density at a far lower cost than a bank of beams.

Pros & cons

  • Many colour rays sweeping together, very eye-catching
  • Great value for the effect produced
  • Light, easy to rig, runs auto to music
  • Quickly adds ray density to the floor
  • Shorter, thinner rays than a real beam
  • Limited fine programming
  • Mostly a “fill” effect, not an accent

Use in a Bar / Club

Spider Light on the floor

Spiders hang across the floor or on either side of the DJ, sweeping a multi-colour fan into the climax to fill the space with rays. Paired with beams (strong rays) and strobes (flashes), they create an intense, driving feel for EDM sections.
